PTE considers Speaking & Writing as one part, but we will be focusing on Speaking section so as to better shed light on the question patterns. The overall time allotted to Speaking section is about 30 to 35 minutes.
The unique feature of PTE Academic is that most of the tasks on all sections are integrated in nature. For instance, the Read Aloud task in Speaking & Writing part is scored across Speaking and Reading sections because the test taker is required to both read and speak.
On the Speaking skill, PTE gives score on a scale of 10 to 90.
PTE Speaking section tasks, number of questions and the time allotted to answer are given below:
Remember that the first task – Personal Introduction – is not scored and hence not included in the table above. Test takers will be given 30 seconds to prepare and 30 seconds to attempt the personal introduction task.
The scoring for PTE Speaking section depends on three main parameters.
You will need to ensure that whatever you speak is relevant and as per the rules specified for a particular question type.
PTE supports more than 100 non native pronunciations, but a test taker must focus on being as clear as possible.
It is important to avoid unnecessary pauses between two words and ensure a smooth flow of speech.
